spirit trees... DC: Prayer

this isn't from my imagination
but a deep appreciation of someone else's.
it's an image stumbled upon on pinterest around a year ago.
a found image to practice drawing.

the image link led me to this
piece of music by Moddi - Thimbleweed.
beautiful too.

i painted my little practice drawing
didn't like it (my painting)
took some dark paint to it
covering most of it
leaving it to oneside
to pick up another time.

seeing Tammie's post about prayer
over at Beauty flows
and i'd been thinking about our forests earlier
pulled me back to this little unfinished thing.

adding these 'spirit trees'

thoughts . . . a prayer . . .
to all the forests our lands have lost
and those that are still here
filling us with their life sustaining energies.

'spirit trees'

the original image is by Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison
titled Winter Arm

my little piece of artwork is a
personal thing for practice.

with thanks to the original artists

and thanks to Tammie for inspiring me to finish this little one
and for hosting DC

found. warmth. smiles.

found in a box.
a tiny little book full of marks on paper.
pleasant to see after it's been hidden away for so long.
and forgotten.

felt good outside today.
the earth's warming.

birds singing
and feasting.

and the daisies are springing up
everywhere.
sharing their infectious smiles.

cloth bags

i've been making these little cloth bags for a while now.
repurposed completely from pre-loved fabrics.

starting with a new one for myself
after my previous one that i'd picked up during travels
was beyond further repair . .
thread bare . .
after a couple of decades of constant use.

after which i just kept making more.
using up pieces of pre-loved fabrics.
cloth from travels.
clothes.

doing a little bit here.
a little bit there.
inbetween.

turns out i have a little stack now.
finished.
and another little stack on the go.
in various stages of process.
having a period of sitting . .
for now . .
while i paint.

it's something i love doing.
when the urge takes me.
mixing the fabrics.
making something useful.

they are part machine-sewn . .
part hand-sewn.
i tend to sew the straps on by hand
because i like the way it looks
better. and feels . .
sitting with the needle
and the slow stiches.

i've decided to offer these for sale.
there are only so many
you can give to loved ones.
and they're not useful
unless they're in use.

i'll be adding them to an online shop.
at sometime . . .
. . .  later.
