spirit trees... DC: Prayer

this isn't from my imagination
but a deep appreciation of someone else's.
it's an image stumbled upon on pinterest around a year ago.
a found image to practice drawing.

the image link led me to this
piece of music by Moddi - Thimbleweed.
beautiful too.

i painted my little practice drawing
didn't like it (my painting)
took some dark paint to it
covering most of it
leaving it to oneside
to pick up another time.

seeing Tammie's post about prayer
over at Beauty flows
and i'd been thinking about our forests earlier
pulled me back to this little unfinished thing.

adding these 'spirit trees'

thoughts . . . a prayer . . .
to all the forests our lands have lost
and those that are still here
filling us with their life sustaining energies.

'spirit trees'

the original image is by Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison
titled Winter Arm

my little piece of artwork is a
personal thing for practice.

with thanks to the original artists

and thanks to Tammie for inspiring me to finish this little one
and for hosting DC

    1. i make greetings cards from some of the little ones..putting them in books to flatten them first..some get lost along the way..its nice finding them when they've been forgotten about. was thinking about a couple i haven't seen for awhile after reading about your grandmothers lovely photograph.

  2. Your spirit trees are lovely against that deep turquoise background. Reminds me of the Smokey Mountains, a place I find to be very spiritual.

  3. To me, this visual is complete. The dark is what makes it or me. Mood. Feeling. Mystery. Nature. Contrast. The white trees look like ghost trees, from another older world perhaps. I forget who, perhaps Picasso, said (my paraphrasing) that all artists are copying other artists. It is so great that you've given such appreciation and respect for the original painting that inspired you, but truly, I feel, you've made it your own. We all inspire each other, thank goodness! I love this piece of art very much.
